Here is a little about She Brews It & Its Creator

Hey-hey Everybody! I hope you’re ready to read about the creation story that started as an empty lot and is currently known as She Brews It.  Once upon a time, back in 2019, a beautiful, smart, creative, multi-talented, single mother of 3, (soon to be 4), young lady named, Christina Boutte, saw a spot at 2015 Cameron St. in Lafayette where she could envision her dreams unfold. But before we get into the dreams, let’s go back a little further…

Christina was born and raised in Lafayette. She graduated from Lafayette High School & the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a BS in Criminal Justice. She went on to teach secondary English and started an organization for teens who had self esteem issues called SELFISH, (Saving Every Lovely Face I Surrender 2 Him). A physical tragedy hit her and caused her to go into early retirement and she was told that she would never walk again. Christina has always been a determined person and beat the odds and can walk now! As this story unfolds, you will definitely see the determination that has guided her. 

Christina was always an entrepreneur at heart and always had a desire to help people. She created a business event that was the first of its kind in Lafayette, the Acadiana Black Business Expo. She planned to host a second event, the Acadiana Small Business Expo but she was forced to cancel it because of our worldwide problem that will remain nameless.

While planning those events, 2020 hit us all like a ton of beignets. Like everyone else who was figuring things out, she too was trying to figure out the perfect plan for her family which included her 3 daughters and 1 grandson. In her quest for a better cup of coffee, she became an aficionado. Being the visionary behind She Brews It, SBI, she was on a mission to eliminate the uncertainty of a hit-or-miss coffee experience and was tired of playing coffee roulette so she decided to fix that problem. 

Christina had the perfect plan and the perfect place to make this dream a reality. She wasn’t a construction guru so she called in “the experts” for help. Spoiler alert: mistakes were made. Trusting the wrong folks? Yep, been there, done that. After a couple of wrong people came and went, Christina decided to take the construction process on little by little to get the process going. In addition to coffee boss and business boss, she quickly took on the roles of site planner, architect, designer and construction general contractor! This Jill of All Trades found herself. planning and designing every aspect of this business from the studs to the electric receptacles to the doorknobs and color choices. 

This was a new learning experience and Christina overcame one problem here, one challenge there, after another after another. Even though you just read it, you probably still can’t imagine her struggles with every single aspect of this project. No matter what was thrown at her, she was determined to conquer it. After overcoming every obstacle and finally being able to get her building permit in 2022, Christina decided to step back from all of the stress and take a year off. She tried her best to disconnect from the construction rollercoaster and recharge. 

After her much needed break ended in August 2023, she went back to handling business for her business. Throughout the whole experience, she kept it all hush-hush. Only her kids, the neighbors next to the business, and a tiny circle knew what she was brewing up. Christina decided early on that she would keep all of the details silent because she was self-contracting at her own pace and didn’t want everyone to keep questioning her. She usually moved in silence during her private life so this wasn’t much different.

Let’s fast forward to present day, spring 2024. The time has finally come to make a birth announcement to the world that her 4th baby is almost finished brewing! Spring has sprung and she is ready to spring her new creation among all of you and open! (Yep, Christina can also have a flare for the dramatics) But wait… Is this yet another permitting setback that will set us back again? Oh, why yes it is! Christina declared, “This whole experience has been one of the hardest things that I have ever had to do in my life. I think it’s even been harder than learning to walk again as an adult.” Wooo-sah….

Alrighty then… So let’s discuss something within our control. Back to the SBI creation story. After being frustrated with the 50/50 chance that her drink might taste different each time, Christina was determined to redefine the standard and make every sip an exceptional one. And hence forth, She Brews It is here to slay! At She Brews It, we're not just about the coffee; we're about YOU. 

Understanding that people are different, they're rolling out a menu that caters to almost everyone, from those who indulge in the sweet stuff to those folks with diabetic and low-carb dietary needs. “We will try to serve a healthier version of some drinks and foods, without sacrificing the taste,” said the owner. With this vision in mind, the SBI mission was clear: Our focus is on the people’s needs and crafting a reliable coffee experience for every customer. Ohh yeah! SBI will NOT be serving drinks with cow’s milk! Oat milk will be the default. We may keep a little bit almond and soy around, but definitely not cows.

She can't wait for you to see what she's brewing. (Hopefully, planning and zoning can’t wait anymore either!) She brews coffee, she brews tea, she brews it all, just for thee! -- there goes that dramatic side again. She will take care of you when you pull up and the only thing she wants you to worry about is, "Do you want something healthier, or nah?"
